A weekend move still needs a workable Monday plan

Plan Monday as an operating day in its own right. The weekend move schedule may end on Sunday evening, but the business still needs accepted functions, available staff and a workable response to unresolved problems.

Define what the promised Monday reopening includes. Answering the telephone, accepting new orders and completing the ordinary range of work are separate service commitments. State which one the business intends to deliver.

Write three possible Monday promises

Use the actual functions required by your business. This fictional comparison shows the decision rather than a recommended reopening timetable.

Scenario What the business can promise Evidence still needed
Full planned service The agreed range of work through the new operating route Required readiness acceptance and confirmed people, information and support
Limited service Named activities or job families only Clear exclusions, order ownership and a route for enquiries outside the limit
Delayed operational restart A defined customer contact and response service while readiness remains unresolved Responsible decision-maker, current assessment and next update point

Decide who chooses the applicable scenario and when. That decision must follow the destination readiness evidence, including the relevant technical assessments. The table does not authorise operation or remove any required condition.

For a limited opening, make the limit visible to those taking enquiries. A salesperson should not discover on Monday afternoon that the promised job family was excluded from acceptance.

Include the people needed after the move

Identify who is available to support ordinary work on Monday and who remains committed to the transition. The person who supervised the weekend may also be the only person who can resolve the first operating query.

Agree realistic coverage with those responsible for staffing and employment arrangements. Do not assume that additional hours or altered duties can simply be imposed. Where the arrangements change, obtain the appropriate employment and safety advice.

Check external support separately. A provider may have accepted a weekend installation appointment without agreeing to remain available during Monday's production. Confirm the scope and availability the business expects to rely on.

Decide what happens if Sunday finishes late

Use the phase fallback plan to examine the actual remaining options. Staying at the old site, operating a reduced service or delaying work each needs its own confirmation. A rushed move does not make those alternatives automatically available.

Reassess customer commitments affected by the delay before accepting further work. Give the responsible team a current decision, including what remains undecided and when the next update is due.

Keep a short Monday issue list with owners and operational consequences. Separate defects preventing accepted work from smaller matters that can follow the normal improvement process. Do not let the pressure to declare the project finished obscure that distinction.

If the revised operation leaves equipment surplus, discuss the accepted operating plan and remaining dependencies with UK Auction Group. Their relocation and surplus service can be considered once the business understands which equipment it still requires.

Releasing surplus equipment?

UK Auction Group surveys the surplus, values it item by item and runs the sale around your operation, so the working site keeps working while the surplus is sold and collected.

Send a list of what you have, where it is and your deadline. Decisions that are still open can be included.
