If one partner says sell and another says wait, do not make the auctioneer choose which conversation to believe. Record the conflict and take it through the appropriate professional and business process.

The first task is to establish what each instruction concerns. People may be discussing different assets, entities or stages. A proposed enquiry can be mistaken for permission to market; a request to investigate retention can be heard as a permanent exclusion.

Capture the exact scope

Write the asset or action, the instruction, its date and the capacity in which the person gave it. Keep supporting messages intact. Avoid paraphrasing the disagreement into language that favours one account.

Ask the relevant adviser to establish authority and the consequences of the actual agreements. Equal involvement and formal authority are separate questions.

Where authority remains unclear, do not enter commitments on an assumed resolution. State the hold or limit through the properly authorised route and obtain prompt advice on any action already underway.

Use a neutral issue note

A fictional note might say that one person requested an initial disposal discussion, while another understood that machinery had been approved for sale. The note identifies the equipment and asks the adviser to clarify the current instruction and decision route.

That is more useful than calling either person obstructive or reckless. The aim is to resolve the actionable question, not to record every frustration surrounding the partnership.

The neutral family or partner agenda can help where a meeting is appropriate. A serious legal dispute may require professional handling rather than another informal discussion.

Correct the working brief

Once the position is established, record the authorised instruction and any conditions. Tell everyone who received an earlier conflicting version which one is current and why it changed.

Do not simply replace a file and assume people will notice. The change-control note provides a clear route for material updates.

Keep the disagreement record where the business and advisers can find it, with suitable access limits. It may explain why an action paused or why a later instruction differs from an earlier plan.

For UK Auction Group, provide a concise current brief and the recognised decision contact. Share the relevant unresolved question promptly if it affects work. The auctioneer can then discuss the assets within a clear boundary, while the partners and advisers resolve the authority issue through the proper process.
