Keep unresolved family wishes out of sale instructions

A family wish can be repeated so often that people start treating it as a decision. Keep a pending register where requests can remain visible without being presented as approved.
For each request, identify the person, the item or outcome, the reason and the question still needing an answer. Include the route for advice or approval and the next review point.
Use status words with care
"Requested" means someone has asked. "Being checked" means evidence or advice is pending. "Decided" needs the actual authorised outcome and any conditions. Avoid a vague status such as "family item" that does not explain whether the asset is excluded from sale.
Family meeting minutes should use the same distinction. If the record changes, update the working asset brief through the proper route.
A fictional relative wants an old cabinet. Another relative wants the business sign preserved. The cabinet raises an ownership question; the sign request needs a practical storage decision. The register should show those different next actions rather than put both into an undifferentiated keep list.
Give each wish a realistic route
Ask what evidence or decision would settle it. Some requests need professional advice about ownership or transfer. Others need the family to choose a custodian or define the future use.
The business archive guide can help where the wish is to preserve history. Keeping an object without a place or person to look after it may simply move the unresolved task elsewhere.
Do not promise a request will be approved because it is inexpensive or emotionally important. Equally, do not dismiss it merely because it is not central to the sale. Record it accurately and let the proper decision process work.
Review before instructions change
Check the register when the disposal scope is updated or a relevant date approaches. A request still awaiting an answer should remain explicitly unresolved. If an asset must be excluded while the question is checked, make that practical instruction clear through the authorised contact.
The family contact can maintain the request list without gaining authority to decide every item. Keep sensitive reasons or personal information restricted where appropriate.
Provide UK Auction Group with the current authorised status of affected assets. A concise list of confirmed exclusions and defined pending questions is more useful than a series of family messages. The register gives wishes a fair hearing while keeping the disposal work based on decisions that have actually been made.
